Campbell Mauchan - Agriwebb Cattle Software
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
Hello, I'm Howard Hale. Thanks for joining us for the Cattleman's Corner. I'll be back with today's guest right after this.Have you ever wondered if you even really need a website? Well, here are just a few reasons. First of all, a website will help legitimize your business, strengthen your brand and your reputation. A place to make company announcements and launch new new products, provide support for your existing customers and remember, you own it, unlike social media pages. For more information, contact us at support at hail multimedia.com.I have today with me, Campbell Mauchan. Tell us about Agriwebb and how it got started.Fantastic. Thanks so much for having me. About eight or nine years ago, our founders come from four or five generations of livestock producers. And when they returned home to their ranches, they found that there was really a difficulty with record keeping reporting and difficult to know everything that was in mum and dad's head. So when they went to make data driven or any decisions on the ranch, it was difficult to do. So when they went looking for kind of ranch management software, it came on a CDROM and it was very desktop based. And ultimately what ends up happening is it stays in the top drawer of the office and doesn't get used. What we've done over the last seven or eight years is set out to deliver a piece of software that works soft line. It's really simple to use. It's all based around the ranch map and hopefully encompasses everything that a rancher would want to record across their cattle and ranching business. We'll have more with Campbell Malkin on future episodes, but that's it for The Cattleman's Corner. Thanks again for listening and may God bless. I'm Brian Hale.

Campbell Mauchan - Offline Livestock Management
Saturday Jan 21, 2023
Saturday Jan 21, 2023
Hello, and welcome to The Cattlemen's Corner.. This is Brian Hale sitting in for Howard. We'll be back with Nelseena and our guest, Campbell Mauchan, right after this. Here's a quick look at some reasons for a website. First of all, a website will help legitimize your business, strengthen your brand and your reputation, give you a place to make company announcements and launch new products, provide support for your existing customers, and remember, you own it, unlike social media pages. For more information, contact us at support@hailmultimedia.com.Now here's Nelseena and Campbell Mauchan talking about livestock management software from Agriwebb. The fact that it works offline, I think that has got to be one of the greatest draws to this, because so many programs and apps don't work unless you're online. So this is not just cattle, it works for several species. That's exactly right, and I guess I couldn't agree more with your first point. We found that a lot of our customers would be writing down records because they were offline, and then they had to sit at their computer at the end of a very long day, as you might well imagine, for most ranchers, and enter it into the computer. And that was such a barrier. So that is one of the first features we built, that and the ranch map. But yes, it works across multiple species, we really focus on red meat production, everything from cattle, sheep, bison, deer, you name it, we've got customers using it to manage their operations. And I guess more specifically, our focus is on your cow-calf and backgrounding operations here in the US. Obviously, there's some incredible software out there for feedlot management. Our focus is really on those cow-calf backgrounding operations. We'll have more with Campbell Mauchan on future episodes, but that's it for The Cattlemen's Corner. Thanks again for listening and may God bless. I'm Brian Hale.

Lance Cochrane - Improvement in Cattle
Friday Jan 13, 2023
Friday Jan 13, 2023
Join Nelseena with special guest Lance Cochran as they discuss improvements in the quality of the herd.Welcome to the Cattlemen's Corner. I'm Brian Hale, sitting in for the late Howard Hale,as we continue his legacy of speaking with cattlemen and women from around the globe.Cattlemen and cattlewomen like to have peace of mind knowing their calves will be bornunassisted and alive. Getting more calves live on the ground is the first step to gettingmore pounds of calf weaned per cow exposed and also equates to more potential for futureprofit. The Gellvian Balancer breed has lowered birth weights and increased calving ease tomeet demands of today's beef industry. Visit gelbvieh.org. Here's Nelseena with Lance Cochran.I think that in the 10 years and I've been familiar with Blackwell and the Sylvarn isthe quality of cattle just keeps improving. It has. The drought in 2011-2012 we saw ahuge liquidation of herds in this area and when people, the producers who decided togo back and get back in the business or to ramp up their herds to increase their herdsize, they didn't just go and increase their herd size with any old bull or any old cow. They did it right. They went and found really good genetics. A lot of northern geneticshave come south in the last 20-30 years. They were able to get a hold of some of that andthey increased their genetics, the profitability of the cattle, the efficiency and I think that'sso important now watching every penny that is spent, watching the return on your dollar, the return on your investment as those people in New York City to ROI's, the return on yourinvestment. They ranchers now see the importance of that simply because of the cost of feed, cost of diesel fuel for crying out loud, cost of diesel, the cost of everything. That was Lance Cochran with our host, Nelseena Lehmann. That's going to do it for today's program and remember there's more content on the web including longer interviews at cattlemanscorner.com.Thanks again for listening and may God bless. I'll be back with the day's guest right after this. Registration is now open for the no till on the Planes Winter Conference January 23 through the 25 in Wichita, Kansas. More information and registration online at no till.org advanced Concepts in Soil Health Fundamentals Conference workshops themes lowering inputs, increasing profitability with biology and Planning bringing the next generation into production. No till on the planes winter Conference 23rd through the 25 January Wichita, Kansas Dick Gearing and his family have Black Kettle buffalo at Mound Ridge, Kansas. He doesn't like to work above the buffalo when they're working him. Give us a little more information about how you work those buffalo, will you? And keep them quiet. Dick. Get down on the ground. Watch their body language. Use pressure to move in and move out. Release a little pressure. If they're doing what you want, let them go. If they're not doing you want, apply a little more. The key to working these animals is to not get them mad. Learn how not to get them mad and things go real smooth loading old bulls, they can be pretty cantankerous and pretty set in their ways. Loading old bulls at home typically takes 1015 minutes. If you insist on doing it away that they don't want to do it, it may take you ten or 15 hours. Use your head and be smart about it and things go really well. Well, basically what you're talking about the way you ought to be handled. Cattle exactly. It's the same thing. People ask, what's the similarity? And I say, well reason buffalo is exactly like cattle. And you just have to learn those subtle differences and take advantage of them. Dick carrying Black Kettle buffalo at Mound Ridge, Kansas. Thanks for joining us. Great to have you. Long. May God bless. And you come back and join us again, won't you? I'm Howard Hale.
